A further example of this usage is: “And the curse: If you do not hearken to the Commandments of HaShem, your God, and you stray from the Path that I command you Today, to go after gods ( אלהים) of others …” (Deuteronomy 11:28). Another example of this usage is: “For, he will cause your child to turn away from after Me, and they will worship gods ( אלהים) of others …” (Deuteronomy 7:4). One example of this usage is: “You shall not have other gods ( אלהים) in My Presence” (Exodus 20:3). Strengthening this assertion is the fact that the Hebrew Bible does, indeed, sometimes employ the word אלהים as a plural noun in order to describe, inter alia, the many gods of the pagan World. Consequently, the Name of God אלהים would appear to be the masculine plural form of the Name of God אלוה (first appearing in Deuteronomy 32:15), traditionally pronounced as Eloah. The basis for this assertion is that, although God is beyond gender, the Hebrew-language suffix ים, pronounced as im, is indeed the plural suffix for (virtually all) masculine (and some feminine) nouns in the Hebrew language. The diacritical symbols that the Masoretes added to the Name of God אלהים rendered this Name as אֱלֹהִים, which dictated that this Name be pronounced as Elohim.Īlthough, in Genesis 1:1, the Name of God אלהים, traditionally pronounced as Elohim, is the grammatical subject of the past tense, third person, singular form of the verb “to create”, there are those who, for very different reasons, have historically denigrated the singular and unitary Nature of the God of Israel by asserting that His Name אלהים is plural. During the Islamic Occupation of the Land of Israel (which began in the 7th Century CE), a group of resident Jewish scholars, known as the Masoretes, created and added diacritical symbols to the text of the Hebrew Bible, so that all issues with respect to pronunciation and meaning would be settled and, thereafter, be beyond disputation. This, in turn, led to differences of opinion as to the proper pronunciation of certain words in the Hebrew Bible that were susceptible of variant pronunciations and sometimes, on account thereof, of disparate meanings. However, once increasing numbers of the Jewish people, under successive foreign Occupations, began to use a series of foreign languages (e.g., Aramaic, Farsi, Greek, Latin, and Arabic) amongst themselves in place of Hebrew, the vast majority of them eventually lost their inherent and intimate familiarity with the Hebrew language. , which is traditionally transliterated and pronounced as: Bereshit bara Elohim et HaShamayim v'et HaAretz, and which is traditionally translated as: “In the Beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth.” (Genesis 1:1).Īlthough neither the Torah nor the remainder of the Hebrew Bible was written with diacritical symbols to represent vowels, disputes over pronunciation and meaning were originally nonexistent because, for generations thereafter, the Jewish people continued to read, write and converse with each other - on an everyday basis - in the Hebrew language. The very first Name employed by God to identify Himself to the Jewish people and to the World is revealed in the very first sentence of the Hebrew Bible: The First and Second Names of God By Mark Rosenblit

The French Open women's final will start at 11pm AEST on Saturday. The win marked the first mixed doubles title for both Puetz and Kato, who had not conceded a set before the final. "Miyu, it is unbelievable what has happened in the past 10 days," Puetz said. Kato and Puetz played for the first time together at Roland Garros. "I want to thank all the players, coaches, everyone for their heartfelt messages of support." "It has been really challenging for me for the past few days," Kato said. Playing with Tim Puetz of Germany, they won the tournament by defeating 2019 US Open singles champion Bianca Andreescu of Canada and Michael Venus of New Zealand 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 after a super tiebreak decided the outcome of Thursday's match. Kato also forfeited all of her $34,500 in prize money and rankings points from women's doubles but was allowed to keep participating in mixed doubles. Miyu Kato and Tim Puetz lift the trophy on court after claiming the French Open mixed doubles title. Kato, a 28-year-old player from Japan, and her women's doubles partner were defaulted during their third-round match last week after Kato accidentally hit a ball girl in the neck after a point. Miyu Kato has left behind the disappointment of her controversial disqualification in doubles by claiming the mixed doubles title at the French Open. "It wasn't easy." Kato bounces back from doubles disqualification "It was stressful in some moments, so I'm happy that I was really solid and I was able to close it in the tiebreaker," Swiatek said. A few moments later, it was over, allowing Swiatek to improve to 60-13 in grand slam play for her career - the same record Serena Williams had after 73 matches at majors. In the tiebreaker, Haddad Maia held a set point at 6-5, but she slapped a seemingly neutral ball into the net. Then, in the second, the big-swinging, left-handed Haddad Maia took a 3-1 lead, before Swiatek got back on serve. Swiatek did not begin particularly well in her match, getting broken at love in the very first game. She returned to speaking to the media after her quarterfinal win. She was asked about the war following each of her first two victories, and Sabalenka refused to participate in standard post-match news conferences after her next two contests, saying she felt unsafe and wanted to protect her mental health and well-being. The subject of Belarus's role in Russia's invasion of Ukraine - the attacks began in February 2022 and continue to this day - and Sabalenka's stance on the matter arose repeatedly, in part because she faced two Ukrainian opponents. It was tough to decide which was more stunning: that Sabalenka lost - or the way she lost. On the other hand, she is now 5-0 for her career against players ranked in the top three. Swiatek is seeking a third title in Paris and fourth major championship in all and her win in the semifinals assured the 22-year-old from Poland of remaining atop the WTA rankings.Īt number 43, Muchova is the fourth-lowest-ranked women's finalist in French Open history. In Saturday's title match, she will meet number one-ranked Iga Swiatek, the defending champion, who got past number 14 Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-2, 7-6 (7) last night. Muchova somehow worked her way out of that difficult situation, grabbing the last five games against an error-prone Sabalenka for a 7-6 (5), 6-7 (5), 7-5 victory at Roland Garros to reach her first major final at the last place she expected. And then, dealing with cramping legs nearly three hours into the match, she was just one point from losing to number two Aryna Sabalenka, who entered the match with a 12-0 grand slam record in 2023, including an Australian Open title. Fedora 9 was the first version to be shipped with IcedTea6, based on the OpenJDK6 sources from Sun rather than OpenJDK7. In May 2008, the Fedora 9 and Ubuntu 8.04 ĭistributions included IcedTea 6, based completely on free and open source code. IcedTea provided free software alternatives for the few remaining proprietary sections in the OpenJDK project. One of the first benefits of this agreement is tighter alignment with the IcedTea project, which brings together Fedora, the Linux distribution, and JBoss, the application server, technologies in a Linux environment. On November 5, 2007, Red Hat signed both the Sun Contributor Agreement and the OpenJDK Community TCK License. It began life as an OpenJDK/ GNU Classpath hybrid that could be used to bootstrap OpenJDK, replacing the encumbrances with code from GNU Classpath. To achieve openness, Red Hat started the IcedTea project in June 2007. Due to the encumbered components in the class library and implicit assumptions within the build system that the JDK being used to build OpenJDK was a Sun JDK, this was not possible. In order to bundle OpenJDK in Fedora and other free Linux distributions, OpenJDK needed to be buildable using only free software components. OpenJDK 9+ supports AOT compilation ( jaotc) using GraalVM (JEP 295). The only currently available free plugin and Web Start implementations as of 2016 are those provided by IcedTea. Sun previously indicated that they would try to open-source these components, but neither Sun nor Oracle have done so. The web-browser plugin and Web Start, which form part of Oracle Java, are not included in OpenJDK. Only days later, as if to make up for lost time, grentperez revealed the release date and cover art for his next single, “Cherry Wine,” the lead single from his sophomore EP, Conversations With The Moon. Not one to rest on his laurels, two weeks later saw the release of his debut EP, Demo(s) About Love, a collection of intimate and raw demos. The sun-soaked debut single featured what are now hallmarks of grentperez’s work, including soulful yet sweet vocals and carefully crafted, intricate indie pop-rock sonics that make listeners want to dance and maybe cry a little. The first official single grentperez put out was a remastered version of his song “Confusing Girl.” Released over a year after the original and demo version, the song featured production by Linden Jay, who had previously worked with artists like Doja Cat and Joji. After the unexpected success and a moment of self-examination on what he wanted to do with his life, education was an essential priority in his household, he dropped out of college, never looked back, and went all-in on music. Grentperez first started uploading covers consistently to Youtube in 2016 when he was a teenager, debuting with none other than Justin Bieber's “Love Yourself.” He continued to upload popular covers of songs throughout the next few years, showcasing his range with the likes of Ed Sheeran's “Thinking Out Loud” and Daniel Caesar's “Japanese Denim.” In 2020, the budding artist would experience their first taste of internet fame with “Sing You to Sleep,” a 14-part covers series designed to help others sleep during the stresses of the pandemic. After the success of his 2020 cover series, “Sing You to Sleep,” more on that later, the indie singer-songwriter has melted our hearts and enamored our ears with his endearing blend of bedroom pop, soul, and R&B. Up-and-coming artist grentperez has come a long way since posting covers on Youtube. For the arms, trim away the existing shoulderpad join and glue on one from Terminator arms, then use Terminator pads resculpted to more closely resemble PA pads. Then you basically have to sculpt your chosen mark of power armour over the top with a thin layer of putty. Strip back all the protruding detail(chest eagle etc) except the backpack socket and narrow the greaves if you've used Cataphractii. Put a wee square of 1mm plasticard into the ball socket on the torso, then glue it down to the legs. Take a set of Terminator legs(of any sort, they're basically just going to be an armature, but I've found plastic Cataphractii or regular Terminators work best) and cut away both legs at the hip join trimming away any thigh plates as you do, then glue them back on slightly closer together and further down the hips(you might have to trim the crotchplate a little), then add 0.5mm spacer to the bottom of the feet, also trim off the belt. Personally what I do is: take a regular Marine torso, add a 1.5mm spacer between the two halves, and a 0.8mm spacer to each shoulder, trim away the belt buckle and scrape down the abdominal cabling. The terminator legs can provide a quick shortcut if all you're after is them looking roughly correct from a distance, but to do it "properly" ie both have the appropriate details on the armour and have better stance & proportions(no more bandy-legged shattered pelvis, no more anorexic thighs) you have to get the sculpting tools out I'm afraid. The problem with splicing the existing plastics is you're still left with dodgy proportions and stance. I'll let you know if this experiment worked out in the end Needless to say, this isn't the easiest conversion to pull off. I'm trying to build a Chaos one myself from the Obliterator kit it's pretty much the only thing that really has the necessary size and bulk. there to add a little extra to your true-scaled Marines.Īs for true-scaled Terminators, there aren't that many options, I'm afraid. Terminator legs have these annoying little armour flaps around their hips I suggest chopping them off and putting some pouches, grenades, etc. the close combat weapons that come with the Raptor kit are a bit oversized for regular dudes, but they look pretty good in the hands of a true-scaled Astartes. They'll look a look more like Power Armour if you do, though compare the above example with the one below: Of course, if you're going to use Terminator legs, you'll have to decide whether or not you want to cover up the back end of the legs. The modified chest piece is on the right I built it out of a Chaos Terminator's chest piece, a regular SM chest piece and backside, a tiny bit of sprue and some Green stuff. The Terminator legs add a lot of height, but require you to bulk out the chest piece so it fits nicely on top of them. These guys are a combination of Terminator and regular Power Armour parts. I've been working on a few true-scale CSM myself, here are some pics: If you're willing to convert them all by yourself, have a look at some of the true-scaling tutorials online - there's a couple of different ways to increase a Space Marine's height and bulk, so it's best to figure out what kind of look you're aiming for before you start cutting into your bits. I'm not sure if there are still companies selling true-scale conversion kits for Space Marines Chapter House Studios used to make one I think, but that one's long gone I'm afraid.
